A snapshot
Taking life in the Himalayas as the theme of the Camp; Campers are given an overview of the traditional way of living in Central Himalayas. How flora and fauna together affect every aspect of life in the countryside-from religious rituals to crop plantation cycles; from local geology to cultural mythology. How civilizations eulogized in (Vedic) Hymns mould the environment of living in harmony with nature. How to silently observe birds and animals in Himalayan countryside. What special feature is needed to adapt to the environment. How to make notes of observations? How do the elements affect the human component in countryside. How does water affect the economy of the village. What things to look for in a village walk. To conduct a village survey. Changing methods of self employment in times; and its affect on the ecosystem. Traditional and recent hunting patterns. To understand why establishing incentive based and community based conservation programs for people who live near reserved forests is crucial for maintaining an ecological balance.
